Sermon Notes: 📝

On the 20th of June 2015, I was ordered to officiate the funeral of my late friend, Mr Desmond Ngwenya. The funeral was on a Saturday morning, later on in the evening I flew to Holland (Netherlands) and the United States of America. On the 5th of July 2015 I returned back to South Africa from United States of America. No One knows what Jesus told me, but I followed the calling.  Jesus has authored me to preach the Gospel until today. It was not easy to leave a massive church building like The Freeway Tabernacle (TFT). To be honest with you under leadership of Reverend Kgositsile Montoedi Kotu and Pastor Joyce Kotu. Jesus has authored them and as we speak, they are still preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and right now they will finish well through the Holy Servant Jesus Christ.

In the Ministry TFT- The Freeway Tabernacle.

The reason why I preach faith so much is because of the thread on the fabric of God’s clothes.

You’re the pastor of the church, when God authors a sermon how do you finish it? The sermon sticks with you it starts in a seed form; it has to be first conceived so that by the time you receive what God is saying it becomes a concept that requires you have all the information together. While you are meditating, researching and thinking outside the box, the Holy Spirit is there and helping you every step of the way until there’s time to deliver a message.

Who authored your vision?

Kgositsile Montoedi Kotu and Pastor Joyce Kotu have grown exponentially. Looking at my spiritual journey I realize that I’ve been preaching in our church, In His Presence Ministry International for a period of 6 years now. I’ve seen a lot of people start but didn’t finish. I have seen a lot of projects start and didn’t finish. I’ve always wondered why, because it seemed like these people in my way of thinking are anointed, talented etc, I mean it must be a success going somewhere to succeed. I want to talk about that today. I knew what the Lord told me to do. Before that we had always leased buildings as church like Mayors Hall Park Mzimhlophe, Emadwaleni High School, Phefini Hall, Mzimhlophe Hostel, Meadowlands East, Soweto’s Mzimhlophe Women’s Hostel, Nomzamo community Hall and Soweto Theatre. I believe in 2020 we move to Chiawelo Ext 3 because of the COVID 19 Pandemic, we have stayed here and the Lord told us that we are meant to grow exponentially. People have always asked me why does everything you touch prosper? Did God author your vision? Although Jesus is the Author and finisher of our faith, he is under no responsibility to finish something that he has not authored. The question for today is, Did Jesus author what you do currently?

Many people ask me why does everything you touch prosper. They think I have some kind of a formula. Let us open our Bible to the book of Hebrews 12-1-2, First you have got to figure out who is watching you, Not only are people on earth watching you but also people in heaven. Jesus pulls back the Curtain and He lets them see us right at times. I’m not talking about bad things because there’s no sorrow in Heaven, but I am going to prove that to you in just a minute. I am sure the people in heaven are aware of us the ones who’ve been here, well let me show you how to be successful. God began to answer my question through the word about these many people from Heaven who are watching us. How come your church building failed or your business failed?

I said did Jesus author your vision? You see God is the author and finisher of our faith but he’s under no responsibility to finish something He has not authored. Maybe you started Ministry or a Business, a Project that Jesus did not author. He’s under no responsibility to finish something he has not authored, it is true it seemed like a good idea but it wasn’t a God idea. We should always remember why church building exists. Church is a Jesus concept, not a man’s notion. Once we make church according to God’s instructions, we will begin to have God live in the church through the Holy Spirit. Everything we do is by faith.  Hebrews 11:6 says, “Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Every God idea work good and function for eternity, but he’s under no responsibility to finish something he has not authored. Beloved saints I have seen people start out and not finish, some of them end up bankrupt. By the grace of God, we as a church have never had a financial deficit in any way shape or form why? I’ve had people say how come you could do that and we couldn’t do that and how come my church failed, I said Did Jesus author your vision? God is the finisher of our faith.

Are you seeing a finished product between you and your spouse? As couple you need to bounce the ideas upon each other. Look at Abraham, he didn’t know where he was going but as far as he was concerned, he had promised land. When I started the ministry, I didn’t know how to build any but I knew where I was going.

I, Thank Heavenly Father in name of Jesus for Reverend Kgositsile Montoedi Kotu and Pastor Joyce Kotu. I honestly believe God was authoring a meeting between them. God saw this Ministry (IHPMI) through them. I believe he put this all together because he saw this ministry move to Chiawelo. Did God author your marriage or relationship with your partner? I came from a family that has divorced and I’ve prayed many times. I wanted my mom and dad to get back together. It is a blessing to finish strong with your life partner. Divorce is not an option. The truth is, you’re not compatible with anybody because no one agrees with anything you do. A great marriage is the union of two great forgivers. Remember that marriage is the greatest expression of God’s love for us. A tangible expression of Christ’s love for His Church. Let your marriage be a witness. Pay Attention to Your Spouse. Attention means love. Show Affection Your Spouse, Romans 12:10

1. Affirm each other’s value Proverbs 12:25, a word of encouragement does wonders.

2. You can also affirm each other’s strengths.

3. You can also affirm each other’s ministry, Romans 1:12 and James 5:16.

It Is Finished

The only person who finished everything he had on his plate before he died was Jesus Christ.

In John 4:34, Jesus said, “My food is to do what God wants! He is the one who sent me, and I must finish the work that he gave me to do”

You must make sure that you have covenant with Jesus Christ to finish what God has authored you to do before you depart the land of the living.

·         Luke 14:28

    New International Version

28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?”

The Bible says, count the cost before you build the tower, so I did all the business aspects of it. I have seen a lot of Pastors who have raised money in their churches to build a building, through halfway the process they have to lay off people that were working for them in the church so that they could finish the building. I don’t think God wanted that to happen or I’ve even heard where the church would put pressure on the people to go get a mortgage in their home or give things like they shouldn’t do that. I’m not critical here but I really believe I am being truthful by right.

Encouragement is the oxygen of the soul. Don’t Quit. Our God positions us in places that may not be for ourselves but to help someone else. To be a Barnabas basically to someone else, Barnabas was salt to Paul Apostle.

I didn’t give up because God authored it. I finished it and Lord Jesus helped me finish it. Those who went before us were probably praying and cheering us. I believe that people in heaven were saying come on Morgan Lekgetho Mogagabe you can do this, because they walked in Hebrews 11: 2-8.

Today right now in our church building we’re cheering you on. I want you to complete the vision that God has put in your heart. Jesus is the author and finisher of your faith and the plan that he has for your life must be fulfilled. There’s a lot of people that get born again they make that first step and they get weary on their journey and they get sidetracked, but Jesus has a plan to get them on track and position them where they might have to repent turn around realize that at some point, they’ve started living life on their own direction. God still has a plan and He’s doing this right now to help you to get back on track because he has a great plan that he wants you to finish and finish well.

It a process, you learn something when you go through trail and testing. Please decide to listen to the voice of God. You need to step out by faith. My unsolicited advice is, Don’t Quit. I knew the voice of God. The moment where God authored the vision. When I took that step, I felt Yes Lord I will do what you have called me to do. There are people who said to me you’re not going to make it and I just smiled and thought well the Lord has said to me you will finish well. I stepped out to full time ministry.

We need to finished our course and kept the faith. You can’t finish your course without the faith, you have to keep that faith that the author and finish of our faith has. If you want to build something, God is telling you to open up a church, God telling you to build a church yes, he did. Did Jesus author it because if he did, he is going to finish and pay it. But if he didn’t, you’re going to struggle. Only JESUS CAN AUTHOR AND FINISH IT. So, everything you do whether it’s spiritual, physical or financial it must be authored by God. Then remember he’s under no responsibility to finish something he hasn’t offered, so I believe in finishing things. For the witness’s sake, give not me the glory but give our Heavenly Father Glory. In every area. If you want to be debt free. So, finish it. You may not be able to buy something you want but one day you will buy everything you want, so if you’re standing on the word of God for a healing, he authored Healing now you finish it. How you finish that by saying in His stripes I am Healed.  I am not going with what I feel. I am not going with what I see. I am not going with the doctors say. I deny what the doctors say. I believe the report of the Lord Jesus. Amen.

Every dream and every vision has a beginning a middle and an ending. We have to begin a lot of times we always keep our eye on the ending. I walk through the valley of the shadow. Even Jesus coming was God’s planned vision for the earth. Jesus was the lamb stain before the foundation on cross He says it’s finished. The Heavenly Father said it’s finished now begin because before Jesus. Jesus didn’t die 2000 years ago that was his physical death, He was a lamb led to the slaughter before the foundation of the earth. God had business and said I am going to create a human race and I love them. I am going to put my name in them and but they’re going to fail and Jesus the Son of God said what shall I do for thee.

He said I will lay down my life so you can have what your heart’s desire. That’s exactly what happened so that was all done before. God knows what’s is coming but somebody has to finish His Name is Jesus. Jesus had to born of a baby of a virgin. He had to grow up. He was without sin. God is involved in everything. God made man out of piece of dust.

Adam was a dirty man he’s made out of dirt but he didn’t make Eve like he. He made her out of a rib. The rib was better looking than the mud.  Adam and Eve when they came together, and God said be fruitful replenish and subdue be fruitful always produce multiply. Always increase replenish in other words use it up then fill up again. He said subdue in other words finish your course. Apostle Paul saying I fought a good fight of faith I finished my course I kept the faith. I always like to come to funerals and to see and observe how great men finish….

Ezekiel 33:11 say, As I live saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from his way and live.

Many Thanks, I love you and I’m praying for you!

Sermon Notes

John 2-7-11 are very often one of the handful and proof texts that people throw out to say that Scripture says drinking alcohol was actually encouraged by Jesus or that it is something that the Body of Christ should do at the very worst that it’s a liberty that we could engage in. I want to take you through a journey through the Scriptures today. And I want to speak directly to your hearts into your mind about this very important subject that I believe the enemy or adversity is using to destroy both the witness of the church and the individual lives of believers, I will not apologize for a single thing. I am going to say there are some that are going always a legalist there are some who probably going to say I am not going to go far enough. I am simply going to point you in the Word of God. I want to challenge. Allow me to speak into your lives perhaps reshape the way you think about this particular subject: Is it Okay for Christians to Drink Alcohol?

Would you join me in prayer Heavenly Father, Thank you for your incredible Word and we pray now, As we read Holy scriptures and study it and I truly understand it.

Is it Okay for Christians to Drink Alcohol?

Someone sent this question to the Ministry and I’d like to take a moment to answer. The question is as follows: I would like to know if it’s Okay for Christians to be drinking? When I asked some Christians about it, their response is that Jesus drank wine, so it’s okay. I myself don’t drink and haven’t for several years because of the negative consequences and effects thereof to me, to my siblings, to my home life and to my family. I did quit drinking long before I became a Christian, but now more than ever, I see Christians that have taken up drinking and they try to convince me that it’s okay. The question above has an impact on almost all of us in one way or another.  This is probably because you might all have held some strong opinions on this subject. Let me take you through the journey of my life concerning the issue of alcohol. In my early years of ministry, I was very adamant and very outspoken against consumption of alcohol on any level and a lot of that is because of my biology and my personality. In my younger years, it was not conducive for me to drink and I became convinced as the Lord took His place in my life that it wasn’t something I should yield myself to.

My father was alcoholic. He was a drunkard. His liver was damaged by alcohol. He died because of alcohol at the age of 57. Because of the effects of alcohol that I saw when I was growing up, I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to consume it. However, as time passed, I became aware of even other Pastors that would have a glass of wine at dinner and they seemed to be Ok with that. Even though I became less judgmental and I want to share with you an approach which I used that narrows the corridor of temptation to alcohol consumption. It’s something that every person has to consider.

You may find yourself under circumstances where you might be tempted to drink alcohol but you must not give in to such. I remember at one time I went to the United States of America.  When we came from the airport and went to my hotel room, the CEO for PHRU invited me for a drink and I ordered a juice but when the drinks came and I had a sip I felt a hot sensation in my chest and that was not the Holy Spirit. It was some alcoholic strong stuff.

I was bold enough to ask what was it that I was drinking and who had ordered it since I had ordered a juice. I did not whisper but I shouted loudly. You must not give in to something just because of shame. You must be bold about your faith. Now, imagine if I had succumbed to that temptation, what kind of a pastor would I have become?

When people invite you for a drink or offer you alcohol, you not say that my pastor says I must not drink but you should rather respectfully tell them that you don’t drink. Alcohol is not good for your health and it does not solve your problems but it is rather a stumbling block. Its only Jesus Christ who can close the gap or emptiness in your life.

Ask yourself if alcohol has any effect on you at all. Do you booze in order to get high or to feel relaxed?  I have heard people say that it helps them to relax. Such a motive is wrong. If you have any worries that are troubling you, you must rather invite Jesus into your life and make him your habitation because he cares for you. He’s the one that is able you to remove your sorrows any day. Alcohol will not take away your problems.

There are some people that enjoy a glass of wine during meals because they say it highlights or accents flavors. If that’s genuine and you could care less about any of the affect that alcohol might have, then okay, I’ll cut you a little slack, but be sure you don’t do it in front of somebody else who wants to get drunk or do it for the wrong reason. That’s what is called being a stumbling block and that’s why I think this leaves a very small margin for drinking. Most people who consume alcohol do so for the feeling of drunkenness that it gives them and not just because of the connoisseurs’ taste of a fine wine.

Now I agree there are probably some of those who do it for the taste and it’s not up to me to decide that. It’s the Lord Jesus you will be dealing with and so don’t try to fake me out about whether or not your motive is okay and you’re not doing it because you feel something. I could care less but you gotta settle that issue with the Lord, because if you don’t, alcohol will become a wide open door to the enemy of your soul and it will destroy your life even if you think you are drinking for the right motivation. If somebody else sees you as a believer consuming alcohol, this becomes a stumbling block and they can’t handle it.

You will be responsible for allowing the enemy to access other people’s lives through you and so these are things you need to consider. Can you actually consume alcohol and avoid the social void without anybody else knowing you’re doing it. Can you consume a beverage with alcohol in it with no regard for consequences or without any motivation of how it will make you feel?

If you think it can relax you or make you sleep, you must know that it is only God who can do that for you… Psalm 127: 2 For so He giveth His beloved sleep.

Be honest about it. These are things you have to settle for yourself because there’s a lot at stake.

Thank you for allowing me to answer this question: Is it Okay for Christians to Drink Alcohol?

I declare that we are to have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness. I declare that our lives are to be Holy because Jesus is Holy and that we bear the name of Our Savior Jesus and because we are in fact Christians. Lord help us to handle this time today in a way that pleases you. God, we ask that you would bless us now as we stay in your presence, in Jesus name.

There is a passage that people drag out saying Jesus is approving of alcohol. Let me help you deconstruct that very thought right here and right now. Those who believed that you have the liberty to drink alcohol, let us consider the full weight and measure of that scripture and some assumption that you have made in the past about this subject. Because it is my contention that most Christians have an improper view of Alcohol because they have not ever had a pastor talk about what I taught you today. You see, wine was the normal drink of that day and so you have to be very careful about making doctrine out of something that was the situation then and yet it is no-longer the situation today.

Sunday Sermon

Speaker: Morgan Lekgetho Mogagabe
Today’s Message: Whenever You Have a Need, Plant A Seed.
Time: 9am – 11 am

Scripture references

•John 12:24 NIV

“Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds”

•Proverbs 3:28

Do not say to your neighbour, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you, when you already have it with you.

•Proverbs 15:10

“It’s a school of hard knocks for those who leave God’s path, a dead-end Steet for those who hate God’s rules.”

•Genesis 1:11

“Let the land produce vegetation seed-bearing plants and trees on the land bear in it, according to their various kinds.”

Sermon Notes:

God Is Waiting for You to Plant a Seed.

What does a farmer do when he has a barren field that is producing no income? He doesn’t complain about it. He doesn’t even have to pray about it! He just goes out and starts planting some seed, because nothing is going to happen until he plants the seed. He can pray all he wants, but it’s not going to produce any crop. He must plant some seed in the field.

Maybe you think you’re waiting on God. You think you’re waiting on God for that job. You think you’re waiting on God for a spouse. You think you’re waiting on God for the windfall. God says, “You think you’re waiting on me? I’m waiting on you! I’m waiting for you to plant a seed.”

Everything in life starts as a seed: a relationship, a marriage, a business, a career, a church. Nothing happens until the seed is planted.

Why does God require us to plant a seed? Because planting is an act of faith. You take what you’ve
got, and you give it away. That takes an act of faith! And it brings glory to God.

Jesus described this principle of sowing and reaping when he was trying to explain why he came to Earth to die on the cross. In John 12:24 Jesus said, “Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds” (NIV). Jesus was saying, “People will be saved and go to heaven because of my death and Resurrection. I’m going to plant a seed, and the seed is going to be my life.”

Here’s the principle of sowing and reaping: Whenever you have a need, you plant a seed. Whatever the need may be, be it; more time, more energy, more money, more support, more relationships, more wisdom. All you need to do is just plant a seed. If you need more time, give more time to your kids. If you need more money, give it away to someone who needs it. If you need more wisdom, share the wisdom you have with others. Give yourself away!

It may not make sense to you to just give away something that you need more of it, but that is exactly the kind of attitude that God wants to bless and that will produce fruit in your life. When you have a need, don’t gripe about it, don’t wish about it, and you don’t even have to pray about it; just plant a seed!

Ask yourself these questions:

•What need have you been waiting on God to provide?
•What do you think God might be waiting on you to do about that need? What seed can you plant today?
•What kind of effects do you see in yourself and others when you plant a seed and give of yourself?

•How is God building your character through this?

Plant Your Seeds Wisely

“Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed
in it, according to their various kinds.” (Genesis 1:11 NIV)

Everything starts as a seed. That’s the first law of a harvest.

Every achievement started as a dream seed. South Africa started as an idea of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness seed. In His Presence Ministry International [IHPMI] Church started as a seed. Your life started as a seed, from when your father’s seed was connected with your mother’s egg, your life began. Literally everything that’s living on planet Earth came from a seed.

In Genesis 1:11 God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the
land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds” (NIV).

A seed is anything valuable that you give away. When you give away praise, there’s value in that. When you give away good advice, there’s value in that. When you give away your time, there’s value in that. When you give away your money, there’s value in that. When you share your experience to help other people, there’s value in that. When you give your love away, there’s great value in that.

It all starts as a seed, whether it’s your time, money, appreciation, wisdom, or energy.

Your words can also be seeds that you plant in people’s minds. They grow, and they bear fruit. So, you need to choose your words wisely, especially when you’re talking with people that you love, like your children, your husband, your wife, and your friends.

Let me ask you this: What kind of seeds are you planting in your relationships? Are you planting seeds of trust, or are your planting seeds of distrust? Are you planting seeds of kindness, or are you planting seeds of crankiness? Are you planting seeds that build up, or are you planting seeds that tear down? Remember: You will reap whatever you sow.

•How have you seen the seeds that you’ve planted in your children or family or friends grow
and produce fruit?
•What kind of seeds do you want to plant in your relationships?
•Why do you think God wants us to learn to plant in small ways to reap larger benefits?

Many Thanks, I love you and I’m praying for you!

Speaker: Morgan Lekgetho Mogagabe

Today’s Message: Jesus, Why Is This Happening To Me?

Time: 9am – 11 am

Scripture references

  • 2 Corinthians 4: 7-8-9

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed but not in despair. Persecuted, but not forsaken, cast down, but not destroy. Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that, the life of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.”

  • 1 Corinthians 13:9, 12

“We don’t know everything, and our prophecies are not complete . . . Now all we can see of God is like a cloudy picture in a mirror. Later we will see him face to face. We don’t know everything, but then we will, just as God completely understands us.”

  • Job 3:20

In his pain and despair, Job asked a lot of legitimate questions: “Why let people go on living in misery? Why give light to those in grief”

Sermon Notes:

This “why” question is human nature, and we all ask it. We have this misconception that if we understand the reason behind our pain, then it will make the pain easier.

Here’s the truth. You don’t need an explanation, you need strength. You don’t need an explanation; you need a saviour. You don’t need an explanation; you need comfort and support.

However, as people, we are always seeking for an explanation. We ask questions like:

Why did that person walk out of my life?

Why did he make a promise to me and then break it?

Why did he hurt me?

Why did I lose my job?

Why did she die?

Why did I get sick?

There are things which happen to you which may prompt you to want to ask the question: Jesus, Why Is This Happening To Me? In all this, all I want to tell you is that, more than an explanation; you need a Saviour to give you the strength, comfort and support to pull you through.

For example, as I stand in front of you today preaching, my heart is wounded because we had a break-in at home. I am wounded as a Pastor because very early in the morning, at around 4am, I woke up to go to the Soweto Hotel to do a live broadcast of a sermon for the Soweto FM Radio station.

In the middle of that broadcast service, my mother called me. She was crying and devastated because there were thieves on the roof of the house trying to break-in. I had to stop the sermon and rush home to attend to my mother who was going through such a traumatic experience.

More-so, in a separate incident, not long ago, we had the wall on our premises vandalised, with some palisades having been stolen and I reported the matter to the police. Without any arrests made, after some time, I was told that the case has been closed.

Now, with all that and what happened today, I could have chosen to quickly go to the police station again and report this break-in but I decided to come and preach here first and as I am preaching to you, I am getting to feel better than I was in the first place.

This in itself shows that in this community of Chiawelo and Mapetla specifically and Soweto in general, more than an answer to the question Why is This Happening To Me, we need our Saviour, Jesus Christ to give us strength and comfort to sustain us in what we are going through.

As for me, in this church, In His Presence Ministry International, I’ve been studying the “why” question for years, and here’s my educated answer: I don’t know and I’m never going to know because I’m not God and neither are you! We’re just never going to understand some things until we get to heaven. Then it’s all going to become clear.

Only Jesus knows the answer to your “why.” If you don’t get his answer right off the bat, you might as well stop asking because you’re simply prolonging the pain.

Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is God’s privilege to conceal things” God is a God of revelation. He reveals himself through nature, circumstances, and scripture. The only reason you know anything about God is because he has chosen to reveal himself.

But the Bible says, God doesn’t only reveal, God also conceals and sometimes God intentionally hides his face from you. Why? So, you’ll learn to trust him and to live by faith rather than by your feelings.

God doesn’t owe you an explanation for anything. God doesn’t have to check in with you before he does something. God doesn’t have to get your permission before he allows things to happen in life. God is God, and you’re not always going to understand why some things happen.

The Bible says, “We don’t know everything, and our prophecies are not complete. Now all we can see of God is like a cloudy picture in a mirror. Later we will see him face to face. We don’t know everything, but then we will, just as God completely understands us” 1 Corinthians 13:9, 12

One day, everything will be made clear and will make sense. You’ll be able to say, “So that’s why God allowed that in my life!” Until then, God wants you to trust him.

These are some of the questions you need to put in;

  • What will I ask God when I get to heaven?
  • How does letting go of your “why” questions increase your faith?
  • How can you encourage someone today who has been questioning God and wondering why God allowed something to happen in their life?
  • The post God, Why Is This Happening to Me?

Many Thanks, I love you and I’m praying for you!
