JOHANNESBURG (January 16, 2021) – Dr. Ladislas Agbesi, President of the Pan African Business Forum (PABF), Mr. Jagjit Singh, Director of the C2C Public Engagement and Outreach Initiative, and Chairman of The Royal India Restaurants, and Mr. Mutumwa Mawere, Chairman of the Africa Heritage Society do hereby announce that 20 January 2021 has been proclaimed by the PABF as Joe Biden and Pamela Harris Appreciation Day.

Dr Agbesi said that: “The last American election was a defining and significant one in not only happening during the worst pandemic in living memory but also for what it means for the African continent.

In this new normal, it is important that we take stock of where we are as a continent in delivering the promise of the Africa that is possible when we take ownership of our story.

America is a bell-weather friend of Africa and the inauguration of President-Designate Joe Biden and Vice President-Designate Pamela Harris whose links to the African promise and challenge are well-established is a worthy cause to celebrate.

The fact that Mr. Biden was there when South Africa was at the crossroads groping for a new direction and he acquitted himself distinguishably and that Ms. Harris is a person who shares our heritage and is also a pioneer in opening the doors of power to not only women but people of color, is a source of inspiration to all of us.

We are inviting all who wish to network in the name of this new address that we need to leverage on to make Africa what it should be in the commonwealth of global nations.

We are stronger when we are diverse and we must always bear in mind that a borderless Africa is a better friend of prosperity than a divided one.”

Mr. Singh said: “On behalf of the C2C initiative, our platform to inspire, provoke and ignite the building of borderless community power to solve problems, I am pleased to be part of this bold initiative in collaboration with the PABF.

When Dr Agbesi called on The Royal India Restaurant, I responded in the affirmative to the request to host this landmark event in our quest to be the go to venue for people to build bridges in the interests of building communities that help to accelerate problem solving.

We are conveniently located in the richest square mile of Africa at Sandton on 2 Maude Street next to the Sandton Convention Centre, South Africa. All are welcome. It is Africa’s time.’

Mr. Mawere said: “On behalf of Africa Heritage Society (AHS), it is my pleasure to be a participant once again on a similar initiative that we hosted when Mr. Barack Obama was elected as the first person of color to be the President of the USA.

We are privileged to be part of this unprecedented experience and notwithstanding, the unusual times, I believe that in person contact of human beings is important and beneficial. COVID19 is real and so is life.

Working together to celebrate life and its possibilities will go a long way to give hope where deaths have contributed to reducing its perimeter and circumference. The fact that there is a provision of virtual attendances is also a great thing.”
